One evening I went out alone and wandered from street to street. At midnight I began to cross a bridge. The night air was cold and damp. A low mist hung over the river and the street lamp gave little light.I was anxious to get home. When I reached the middle of the bridge I thought I could hear someone approaching behind me. I looked back, but could make out only the form of a man dressed in a large overcoat. The sound continued and I began walking more quickly.
